For nearly two thousand years Babylon was one of the most important cities on earth. Hammurabi wrote his famous law code here, and Nebuchadnezzar II rebuilt the city in glazed brick with processional ways, palaces and the famous Ishtar Gate.
Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019, the site lets you walk the Processional Way, see the Lion of Babylon and stand in the ruins of the Southern Palace.
